Plate belongs to a white and fairly rare Sovereign 3.4 - only 2,341 made - http://www.jaguarxj.info/JAGUAR%20XJ%20SERIES%20II.htm . DVLA details for PYF 752R are:Date of Liability 31 12 1986 Date of First Registration 28 04 1977 Year of Manufacture 1977 Cylinder Capacity (cc) 3442cc CO2 Emissions Not Available Fuel Type PETROL Export Marker N Vehicle Status Unlicensed Vehicle Colour WHITE Vehicle Type Approval Not Available - so it died around film date. Appears in a few scenes in mid-film (including main above): ![]() ![]() ![]() then later in film used as a getaway car, suffers fatal injuries and is bulldozed into a gravel pit. Fairly sure 2 cars involved - wheels change style, rear plate changes font, and Sovereign rear badge absent in a couple of shots, plus rear radio aerials are inconsistent (compare also with mid-film shots). Damage may not be totally consistently accumulated either, particularly headlights. The inner lamps disappear in one early shot before any damage then come back again, and outer lights and bumpers seem to have miraculous powers of recovery occasionally. But all shots as far as I can tell have Daimler grilles and rear plate plinths - no stand-in Jags used (although one baddie keeps calling it a Jag), and overall the continuity is pretty good considering what happens to it/them. Shots below are in sequence of film. ![]() inner lights prematurely gone, but nothing's happened yet to cause damage ![]() ![]() inner lights back ![]() smashing through market garden greenhouses ![]() slave wheels - then it tries to go through a gap between 2 garages which is too narrow ... ![]() as it hits the garages the first time you can see them move ![]() keeps reversing back and trying again ![]() no rear badge here and different font plate. Eventual success to the rendezvous in the gravel quarry .. ![]() where it's bulldozed into a pit ("Where's the driver gone?" "'E's parking the Jag. Now get in the bloody van!") ![]() and it disappears with some muddy bubbles and now vented wheels ![]() although defiantly manages to spontaneously right itself at the very end ![]() which only a product of Coventry's finest would be able to manage. None of your foreign makes would have been able to do that. -- Last edit: 2013-04-28 05:44:31 |
