I know this show is supposed to take places in the 1980s but it's obvious this van has over 20 years of wear on it. How does it get trashed anyway?

In many movies set in older times we have the opposite problems: all cars are in pristine condition because they are collector's cars :D

It looks likes it is the exact same as the one used in "Person of Interest":

It's the same car alright. Look at at the bottom of the portside door, same exact scratch.

Yes, that's why I said "exact same", but as it was damaged in 2012 I am surprised. Maybe only the other side was damaged - I should watch again the episode.
