custom made doesn't resemble anuthing in the UK or Spanish inventory but with 6 base wheels it could be a mocked up M48/M60 or britsh Challanger 1 tank the Leopoard 1/2 have 7 base wheels so they are out of the question the AMX-30 which was in spanish inventory had just 5 base wheels -- Last edit: 2013-02-04 15:06:28 |

For at least some shots, the tank is just a shell sitting on top of a truck. The truck's wheels can be seen from about 38 seconds onwards in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=afEB9k2QXlU |

or maybe just label it MADE FOR MOVIE and done |

the bottom front plate indicate that the tank is in fact a british Army Chieftain Main Battle tank, with prop armour added to curved turret in order to make it more angular and modern in appearance |

I was under the impression that this is a made for movie, since some of the behind the scenes shots seemed to show wheels. |

Exiting from the trailer hauled by /vehicle.php?id=570884 : For the tank, going to the other side of the road is easy: It didn't had to wait like the cars for a passage: |

They had four tanks on set. A real one, a real one with a lighter (not working) turret (saving a couple of tons), one that's a shell on a truck-base, and one that is just a shell that can be dragged and flipped. |

Hi everybody! This fake tank-shell is in fact based on a 7.5T Iveco. It's supposed to be for sale, so some very interresting photos and technical details can be found here: http://car-from-uk.com/sale.php?id=78310 |

Magazine mention that this is a real Chieftain Mk.10, owned by a tank-driving experience centre "Tanks-Alot" in Northamptonshire. You can go and rent it out and drive over dead cars and things. For filming it apparently had lots of extra plating and protection welded on so it could crush its victims without tracks, mudguards, side plates and screens etc being damaged/punctured by jagged bits of metal. |

One of them was modified to reach 60 mph. |
