4x4peru ◊ 2006-12-21 03:40	Prior to this model, Dodge trucks used letters to designate year model of design (i.e. V=1940 W=1941) and an second letter to designate the weight classification (C=1/2 ton D=1 ton F=1.5 ton). For military vehicles which were largely Dodge 4x4s...A 1940 1/2 ton truck would be a VC plus the model number for the chassis configuration...pick up, ambulance, command car, etc... A 1941 1/2 ton design was a WC with the model number, WC4, WC12, WC9 and so on. With the 1942 models this all changed and the "WC" label was carried over even though it was neither a W 1941 design nor a C 1/2 ton any more. In 1942 all the military Dodge 4x4s were WC's with the appropriate model number following, WC51, WC56, WC63 etc... To make it more complicated there was also an engineering "T" numbering system and well as a "G" system for similar model grouping. Jim
