"Made for EU" is more correct to me. Before 1991, western cars were never made specially for Bulgaria. Separate units were sold with exorbitant prices.

No, that's not correct. At first there was no EU-market back then (even no EU, just EC), plus the fact, that the Cortina MkIII as LHD was sold only in some single countries as Austria and Czechoslovakia -both no EU/EC-members back then- but not everywhere in Europe. Definitely not in West Germany, in France IIRC neither.

"Made for EU" due to the left-hand drive and this difference with the original model is not contestable.

It is - see my comment :p
a) no EU back than
b) no EC-countries back then, where it was officially sold

So "made for LHD-countries" would be correct (but the don't have that). "Made for EU" is totally wrong.

There were no western vehicles destined to be exported to Bulgaria. It was not a market like in countries in western Europe. People who owned these cars were if "important persons", if persons who had bought a car abroad. There are some other ways to own a western car, but not officially.

@I-Denev: I know. Annother topic, I'm interested in, is "Western cars in the DDR". Except the USSR the DDR had the most restrictions about the import of Western cars. In all other COMECON-countries, also Bulgaria, appreared much more Western cars than there.

btw.: recently someone has digged out new informations (well not really new, but new for me): /vehicle.php?id=408379
