Seems 1902 "dog cart" 2 cylinder, 12 hp - Link to "www.freefoto.com" , https://www.flickr.com/photos/shphotographybristol/27145281085/ , https://www.flickr.com/photos/bengphotos/22500862734 . A regular on recent London-Brightons runs - https://www.flickr.com/photos/45676495@N05/37368506242 - "This Arrol-Johnston Dogcart was built in the Paisley works in 1902 and used by a Doctor in the North of Scotland until around 1908 when it was retired to his stables, remaining there until 1948, when it was aquired by The Sword Collection, and later by the Yorkshire Car Collection, its present owner being only the fourth in 115 years." ST 52 ✓ Taxed Tax due: 01 April 2018 MOT Exempt Vehicle make: ARROLJOHNSTON Date of first registration: March 1905 Year of manufacture: 1905 Cylinder capacity (cc): 2388 cc Fuel type: PETROL Export marker: No Vehicle status: Tax not due Vehicle colour: BEIGE Some date confusion - googling ST 52 gives lots of 1902 references, and DVLA MOT says Date registered 1 January 1902. But DVLA main says 1905 as above, and ST plates (Inverness) started Dec 1903. The answer is that the car (1902) pre-dates the introduction of the registration system, so had 2-3 years running around unregistered until the bureaucracy set in and gave it a registration in 1905. -- Last edit: 2019-02-03 04:19:54 |
