I very much doubt Autocar. The Autocars have a set-back front axle, which this truck doesn't have. I believe this is a ca. 1960 Hayes Conventional:

George Sack has all 3 wrecked ones in his yard near L.A. They used this one and 2 others in another movie. Originally they were cement mixers and are equipped with auto transmissions.

here's what happen to the trucks

Truck #1 Was bought by somebody on here I think his name on here is Diesel Power or something like that in 1988 it was in the Movie Messenger of Death

Truck #2 Was bought by the same person in 1988 it was in the Movie Messenger of Death

Truck #3 was rarely seen in the movie Over the Top it lost it's hood in Messenger Of Death then they but the same hood back on it then a year later in 1989 it was in the Wizard this is the one still for sale but they call this one truck #3 cause it was in the movie before Truck #4 this truck is now silver

Truck #4 Is just the cab the truck is still currently for sale

Phillip and MackMan,

I can give you the complete history on the silver one

First off before I do Phillip The 3 Over the top Trucks that are still Red are now owned by Dieselpwer the Silver one is still for sale and can be purchased if you want to buy it MackMan you are right the silver was Rarely in over the top, In fact it was in 1988 to do a specific stunt in Messenger of Death this Silver truck was the truck the hit Garret Smith's Blazer in Messenger of Death Just to remind you all the blazer blew up before the truck hit the blazer so when they show the shot on the drivers side with the hood still on it was one of the ones from Over the top they only to this truck for the that scene when we see the front side of the drivers side front tire and when they did that Scene with the truck notice the hood started to fall off right away The front Brush Guard was different on this truck there was another bar welded under the other top bar for that scene the truck returned to Universal with minor damage where it was fixed and where the same hood the fell off the truck in the movie was put back on another something to answer for MackMan is yes they only had one truck in the Wizard cause it was a minor truck in the movie they just drove it on the high way for one scene that was a year later in '89 after having all the minor damage from after filming in the movie Messenger of Death you can tell it was this truck in the wizard movie cause they took the Brush Guard was taken off in front of the grill cause it was completely damaged after hitting the blazer also you can see a big whole in the fender of drivers side after hitting the blazer and you can tell they put the same hood back on it cause when they show the wind shield scene you can see big gap at the front of the hood after filming the wizard movie the truck returned to Universal Lots where it sat for many years until 2000 where it was painted silver and was used in the movie Tank Girl then in 2003 they used it in a Science Fiction movie since then the truck has been sitting in George's Yard

Phillip,

I hope your dream comes true with owning an Auto car like over the tops and The silver is still for sale even though the silver was rarely in over it was in films with the auto cars from over the top if you want to you can contact George Sack the owner of universal truck lots and see what you can do to purchase the silver auto car after you purchase it you can bring it back to life just like over the tops auto cars I will be your support and will do every thing to make sure you do get the silver truck I really would like to make your dream come true of owning a auto car and I am willing to make your dream come true I am going to give you a link where you can e-mail George Sack to buy the silver Auto car if you want to there will be an e-mail and a number the you'll have to call to try and buy it if you want I am your support to make sure you are the lucky guy who buy's that silver auto car and plus the silver auto car was in more movie's than the the other ones

You'd really have to Watch Messenger Of Death to really tell the differences of the trucks then try watching Over the Top again & you'll be able to tell the differences, the way I do it is,I can tell the differences by the CB Radio Antenna's on each truck to tell the differences of each because the CB Radio Antenna's are positioned in a different

Truck #1 had 2 CB Radio Antenna's the one on the drivers was pushed back by the wind & the one on the Passenger Side faced straight up to the sky

Truck #2 had 1 CB Radio Antenna on the top of the drivers side mirror

Truck #3 had 2 CB Radio Antenna's one chrome one on top of the roof and one small white one on top of the passenger side mirror

Truck #4 had 2 CB Radio Antenna's both pushed back by the wind

diesel pwer owns Trucks #1 & #2

Truck #3 was rarely used during the filming of over the top, the brush guard in front of the grill was taken off to appear in the movie the Wizard "'89" i did the one and only stunt in messenger of death where it lost it's hood but, the same hood that fell off was put back on it for "The Wizard" Movie Truck #3 only appeared in Messenger of Death to do that one stunt hauling the that white tanker before Truck #3 was Truck #2 notice when losses it's hood there's a 2nd bar on the top the bush guard to that stunt that bar only appeared while hitting the blazer when the show the front drivers fender, other wise than that it was Truck #2 hauling the all white Tanker, the truck was later painted silver in 2000 to be in the movie "Tank Girl" than in 2003 it appeared in a Science Fiction film, when Truck #2 was switched to the all white Tanker in messenger of Death Truck #4 later takes it's near the end of the second scene with the trucks, notice Truck #4 sat higher off the ground then the Rest of the other 3 trucks, truck #4 is the one that is now just the cab

Truck #4. was only used in meseenger of death when they box in the blazer between 2 Autocar's and start squeezing the blazer betwen the 2 trucks

Truck #1 & #2 did the first squeeze then after they show a front view of both trucks which indecates the truck huling the White & Gray thanker sits Higher off the ground after that shot there is 2 mores shots with Truck #1 & #2 squeezing the blazer in between 2 shots the shot after the shot showing one truck sitting higher of the ground then all the other ones look at the truck hauling the black tanker that truck in that shot has Marker Lights Truck #2 was the only one in the movie Messenger of Death that had Marker Lights that indecats Truck #2 is hauling the Black Tanker and the truck was sitting the same heighth as that that idecates that the truck haul the White & Gray Tanker is Truck #1, notice while there showing that the 2 trucks are starting to seperate then notice when the 2 trucks completely seperate they show the back of the trucks & Tankers notice the Truck #1 back hauling the black tanker & Truck #4 back hauling the white & gray tanker, then when they start to squeeze again they show they same, showing the back of the Trucks & Tankers again it indecates both truck sitting off the ground at the same heigth again that indecates Truck #2
hauling the white & Gray tanker again & Truck #1 hauling the black tanker, besides those 2 shots after the first squeeze in it's Truck #1 hauling the Black tanker & Truck #4 hauling the White & Gray tanker

also notice Trucks #1 & #2 are exact twins, beside the CB Radio Antenna's Trucks #3 & #4 have there differences between Truck #1 & #2 and also between Truck #3 & #4 there's some differences Truck #4 Sat higher off the ground from all the other trucks, Truck #3 during the filming of over the top ot was the only truck to have a round back up mirror under the Passenger mirror, while filming in Messenger of Death it was the only truck to have a second top bar on the brush guard for the crash scene, there's your info hopes that helps you!

P.s you wanna talk to George Sack about buying the trucks if you plan on it cause, Errol doesn't know that Diesel pwer bought Trucks #1 & #2

This comment is in responce to junkman's comment on A Car trucks. Maybe in Oz ACars only have set back front ends. But in Usa many set forward front axles was used under an A CAR.
Ive owned many white products over the years. Freightliners when they was White. Western Star when it was White and also a Diamond Reo also under the white flag. Eventualy the Corp broke up and many went seperate ways. ACar became more of a constructer type of truck and built in Utah. Western Star bout itself out but eventaly bought by Freightliner. I trust this clears that up.

also, this truck had an allison automatic for the movie. Some additional attributes include:

1. aluminum cab/frame
2. what i believe to be a 260 cummins or similar (motor has jakes)
3. all front license plates seen on front guard are still there....found them in the side box (woohoo!)
4. 4-speed auxilary box
5. 5.29 rears
6. weight system also survived....although the weights were styrofoam
7. serious steel reinforcement behind front bumper as this truck crashed into gates, cars, fountains, and mansions

hope this info interests everyone. Feel free to respond with more questions. Ill check back when i can.

corey4sale wrote This is a 1965 A64B Autocar.!

I know this comment is almost 15 years old. But I find very odd that the owner of this vehicle would get the model name completely wrong.

For one, Autocar A64B's were only produced with set back axles, with no exceptions. Unless somebody went through the trouble to convert one, which I doubt the movie makers did. Secondly, prior to 1970, Autocar A64B's actually had a completely different model name. They were known as Autocar A7564T's. (Or just A75 for single axles models.) I have no clue why Autocar changed the model name without really altering the truck design, but whatever.

Even though the apparent "owner" says that the truck is a 1965; I think keeping the supposed year off is a good choice. He was wrong on the model name, so why should the year be considered accurate? So yes, this truck is correctly listed.

Also this truck is listed as an A64B, despite the fact it's in a series made from 1960-1964, you can't see the driven wheels so it's should be listed as an A75. /vehicle_267227-Autocar-A64-B.html

These two are the same truck, and the A75 (And A64B Obviously) wasn't even produced until 1958. It's an Autocar DC of some sort: /vehicle_20277-Autocar-A64-1957.html -- /vehicle_352162-Autocar-A64-1957.html

That's very interesting, Bray. I just commented on that poor Autocar A64 a couple of weeks ago on her page... Really is a sad end for a nice truck, yeah? :( But that's also pretty cool to at least like learn a little bit of these trucks, too! So thanks for sharing and hopefully the information can be corrected! :D

The truck is indeed a 1965 and isn't an A10264 like this site suggests...

We're going off of what the title says to the thing, So, Listing the truck as an A7564T if you the correct term from back than would be perfect

Went down in the field to find the spec plate yesterday. It is indeed an A10264. I'll have to get the title out, but pretty sure it incorrectly said it was an A64B (who knew, oh well). As for the year, I believe it says 65 on the title but have to double check. I could call Autocar and give them the serial number to confirm, if they saved records from that far back. Anyway, that's the info for ya. And I know it's been a hell of a long time, much longer than I wanted it to be. Life just takes over sometimes. My shop is currently being built (by Dad and I, so patience is greatly appreciated). It WILL be the first thing to go into the shop!.

Sorry if I sounded disrespectful when I said that. It's great knowing that these trucks are in good hands. If you do end up fixing them up in the future I wish you good luck! Props for keeping movie truck history alive and well.

Unfortunately two of the trucks had ended up ultimately getting scrapped in April of 2010

Corey had ultimately saved the truck that had no hood on the back lot of Hollywood Universal Studio Truck Lots which was the main glorified truck of the film as well as in Messenger Of Death as in Messenger Of Death Corey's surviving truck was the truck that had hit the exploding blazer that had driven off with the hood flying into the mid air and damage on the front of the driver's side fender near underneath the headlight points to that it was also Corey's surviving truck that was also used in The Wizard movie as well, Too

One of the other two complete trucks used during filming Over The Top and Messenger Of Death was ultimately taken apart near the end of 1992 and the cab that was put onto a flatbed that was used for interior shots during Over The Top was turned back into a complete truck and was painted black and had a tank mounted on the back of it for a movie called Freaked and than was eventually painted silver and had steel bars installed all over it for another film called Tank Girl a couple of years later

That Silver truck was eventually sold to an unknown individual sometime in 2012 and would have the original hood of Corey's surviving truck on it if it were to be found today ever since it had vanished sometime in 2012
