Yep a Sherman VC Firefly, the IMDB terminology is slightly wrong it should be Sherman VC (V being the British designation for M4A4 and C being for Firefly) The M4A4 shouldn't be there as it was a British tank. So we should renamed the other ones? What about the two non-Firefly? If British, Still made by Chrysler? -- Last edit: 2012-12-03 17:28:40 |

there is nothing to rename...its an american M4A3 sherman....what makes it "British" is that the british removed the original main gun ,replacing it with a 17 pounder, removed the hull machine gun and plated the opening over, built a large box to the turret back for the radio system..other than that it remains the standard m4 sherman..so its a british conversion of an american tank. the particular model of Firefly in the picture is the Sherman IVC Firefly.......a standard M4A3 rearmed by the british, so if IMCDB should choose to rename maybe the title of "M4A3 Sherman (IVC Firefly Conversion)" would suffice??, because technically it remains an american tank, still made originally by chrysler, with conversion work carried out in Uk by unknown builder. -- Last edit: 2012-12-04 21:43:04 |
