Definitely Rolls-Royce - looks like a Ghost from about 1914. |

This is a 1920 Silver Ghost, chassis #34PE with a tourer body which was built by Chris Martin for the film. It was repainted beige after the film and received a new windscreen. |

To clear up on this scene, "the Officers' Club, Cairo". This is not the location suggested by IMCDB ( Alphonso XIII) it is in fact the courtyard of Casa Pilatus in Sevilla. The vehicles are 34PE 1920 RR Silver Ghost, 1921 BSA V-twin combination m/c in background, UK registration NR 1091, M/c leaning on wall is either a Triumph or Douglas. I had two of each on location. This also solves the shot of David Lean on the Suez canal bank, cameo appearance Better shot for experts to identify m/c click thumbnail. Myself in charge over pile of dung. Scene 'Cairo street' actually Almeria harbourside. ![]() ![]() -- Last edit: 2007-08-18 20:52:20 |
