Used imported JDM-car, due the plate-frame? Btw.: when came it up in Britain, the import of used cars from Japan? And can it be, that in Irleand you see much more of them? -- Last edit: 2012-07-15 13:59:17 |

I can see why you're asking, but I very much doubt if JDM. Some people liked this big plates for looking a bit prestige Rover-ish or Jag-like. JDM cars into UK are almost always eccentric niche cars which were not originally sold here (Figaro, S-Cargo, Bongo Friendee, 4wd MPVs etc) or in-demand popular sports cars (Eunos, MR2, Supra etc) - sometimes in versions not sold here (turbos, targas, automatics etc). UK was not a clearing destination for mainstream disposals for stuff normally available here, as the 260C was. And nobody here really liked it enough anyway - it sold a few but mainly gathered showroom dust. No idea about JDM in Ireland - they may have operated differently. |

I've been in Ireland in 2000, just for a longer weekend, but the very many original JDM-cars had been very obvious. Not only sports or collector cars, the very most were porridge cars and vans, often in poverty-spec trim line. |

Very little personal / grey importing at this time , this was a standard car in the UK Datsun range. |
