Part of the model name I think. Well, at least that's how we listed the others. But I am not sure if it is a special separated model or just a special trim/engine of the Mustang. |

5 Stars the Mustang belongs to Tommy Saxondale and is in the opening credits and gets screen time in every episode. Hi, thanks to Salvation for pointing out this site to me. Mach 1 is really just a trim option one up from the regular Fastback version. Main features are the black hood, an upgraded interior package, and the black side stripes + reflective rear stripe. This one has a 351 cid Cleveland 2V engine (5.7 litres) although between episode 1 (shot March 05 IIRC) and episodes 2-7 (shot Feb/March 06) this was upgraded to a new Edelbrock 4V carb, among other upgrades and replacment parts in an effort to renew all the oily bits. Also, does anyone know why he keeps referring to his mustang as a 'Boss', when it has Mach 1 quite clearly written on it? |

There were five or six perfomance models of the mustang: Some were 'boss' some were 'mach 1' and some 'shelby'. Dialog is typical movie misinformation. .gif ";)") |

In an interview, Steve Coogan - himself a considerable petrol head and a good driver - said that he always thought carefully about the cars his characters had. His aim is to think of the car the character would really want, and them to give them the loser's version of it! Exactly, I bet Alan dreamed of having a Jaguar, but all he could afford was a Rover (the poor man's Jaguar). And also by the 90s Rovers had become deeply unfashionable, Alan's fashion-sense is absolutely clueless (remember his "sports-casual" fashion ideas?). the stripes are from 71-72. 73 stripe has "Mach 1" on the rear quarter, behind the doors |

The grill is from a 1973 mach1, the stripes from 1971 - 72 mach1 and the gas cap is from a 1971 mach1, 1972 and 1973 mach´s had regular gas caps. So the Mustang is a mismatch of parts from all three years. The color is "Grabber Yellow" (D) available only in 1971. -- Last edit: 2009-08-10 21:33:05 |
