It was filmed in Hawaii, what name was used there? The US name? (is it a US-specs model?)

I know ( [:kiki] ) but as it is far from the other US states (though not especially closer to other countries) maybe the rules are different, and cars imported from elsewhere. Hence my question to know if the car has visible US-specs like a VW Thing.
Also, the movie is set in Tahiti. I saw that it was filmed in Hawaii only after having added this car as "unknown".

Yes, it is the USA spec 1973 only Volkswagen Thing due to visible rear vent and large indicators. Made in Mexico.

93montero wrote Hawaii is the US.

More precise: an annexed territory ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kingdom_of_Hawaii )

antp's question was a valid one a Hawai'i does have a few different models/names than the mainland (The Suzuki SJ 410 for instance was sold in Hawai'i, PR and Guam but not on the mainland)

ingo you're looking at the wrong page ;) It's one of the 50 US states. Of course it's a Thing. antp should have said is it the same as the contiguous US.
