This was usual for Japan, so "made for J" would be correct http://www.nakazawa-office.com/officeinc_myvol07.html The bike rack was from the offficial Volkswagen extra option range. But not available in Japan. Only here. Holy sh*t, what a drama it had been, to pack and send it. Bulky and sharp-edged was it, and the cardboard box had to be selfmade, because the original was useless weak. Damn it! |

Seems like the admins on this site don't all agree on criterias for the "made for"-tag: /vehicle.php?id=502000 Still not convinced this is a "made for" as the main difference is that it is built for left-hand driving. |

RHD was/is not mandatory in Japan. Some fans of foreign brands are ordering their cars as LHD. They think, they are more stylish. Plus the (largely unknown) fact, that LHD- versions are generally better cars than the RHD-variety (except origin British or Japanese cars). A friend, who was a prototyp-developing-engineer at VW, has explained that: they plan, create and build mockups and prototypes as LHD. For the RHD-version they don't start again, they take a ready prototype and modify it, that it fits sooner or later. So at those there's very likely, that you'll find makeshifts, auxiliary-solutions and even cobblework. The K 70 is a good example. It's a terrible concotion as RHD, absolute crap ![]() -- Last edit: 2012-06-17 12:08:47 |
