First model year 1976. What makes this a '77? |

That's my car! Seriously, I bought it from the guy who sold it to hollywood. They used it and asked the guy if he wanted it back, he took it back and sold it to me (well actually to my friend who then flipped it to me for the princely sum of $900). It was a 1976, California tag # 2GSF965, canary yellow (which I covered in primer gray), had white and black checkered cloth seats, 4spd manual, 1.6l, tachometer, rear anti-sway bar, and a few other add-on tid bits that made it its own. When I bought it I had to "undo" what hollywood had done, for some strange reason the lower seat belt strap was unbolted and there was a short piece of chain in its place, I guess the stunt driver liked chain across his lap? I whimpered when I replaced the rear differential after it exploded (too many times popping the clutch for wheel spin) as I couldn't find a replacement with an anti-sway bar set up. I drove the hell out of that damn thing and even brought my first son home from the hospital in it. Not a great car, but great memories! |

So what was this Chevette's eventual fate? |

^ I'm wondering this as well. |

I suspect it didn't last all too much longer after this...it doesn't show up in CA smog records, which, as a '76 it should... |
