These cars has changed owners.
Yes Sierras were produced from 1982 to 1993 and these sedans are from 1987.

No, the plates should stay on the car even when the owner change, like in UK.
Well, I guess that they put fake plates then.

They're fake plates. The one with that says "97" is clearly a doctored '87 plate (that style of lettering was common before the EU standard plates came around in '91).

Irish number plates like these always show either (i) the year it was registered (if first registered in Ireland), or (ii) the year of manufacture if imported. Registrations do not change with owners.

Put 96D60721 in www.cartell.ie, and it says it is registered to a Isuzu.

It's likely those registrations were not in use during the making of the film, as they are quite high numbers in the sequence. They are all in use now, but it's possible the cars using them now are imports.

AFAIK, registrations under the current system never get re-assigned to other cars.

This car pictured is aprox 1987 - 1989 due to having orange front indicators and black plastic grille.

By what details this is different from cars sold in other countries?

Only in Ireland (and UK) was it named 'Sapphire'.
