2006-2009 model, Supercharged Uses the exact same two-speed dual range Magna Powertrain DD295 transfer case as the Discovery 3/LR3, Discovery 4/LR4, and Range Rover. Magna Powertrain was formed in 2004 when Magna International purchased a large percentage of New Venture Gear (NVG). New Venture Gear had previously supplied four-wheel drive systems for Land Rover between the 2003-2005 model years, more specifically the two-speed dual range New Venture Gear 225 transfer case for the Range Rover (L322). Like the Discovery (3,4, LR3, LR4) and Range Rover, the driver is not allowed to manually control the four-wheel drive system. Control of the 4x4 system is handed over to the Terrain Response system. A notable "Achilles' heel" vs. older Range Rover and Discovery models with manual control. |
