title is correct..as its a direct copy of the original in the Bovington tank Museum....neil corbould Special Effects ltd built this replica using the original as a blueprint..the tracks, engine, hydraulics are taken from a commercial tracked excavator..probably japanese, the rest is lightweight metal, when the film had finished the tank was offered to the tank Museum so they bought it, and this is where it now resides since 14/1/12...they use it instead of using their real ww1 tank which if damaged, may not be repairable, so they use this one...in 2014, the 100th anniversary of WW1, this replica will be seen all over the place in commemoration events...i hope they state its a replica and not an original tho!!. update..they have just taken delivery of a replica ww1 german A7V tank, built of plywood on a commerciaql catterpillar chassis. -- Last edit: 2013-02-17 16:50:05 |
