I keep thinking it might be a Gillig. |

Affirmatif, c'est un Gillig, mais je n'arrive pas à retrouver l'année. Les Gillig sont typique de San Francisco. |

Suffolk County(NY) Transit used to have a fleet of Gillig Phantoms during the 1980's and 1990's. So, you'll find them on the east coast as well. |

Voila la réponse de l'entreprise Gillig: Sir, This looks like a Gillig bus. However, I can't make out the emblem on the front. If it says "Gillig" it is probably ours. I can't tell the year without the vehicle identification number. Thank you, Dave Schaible Sales Supervisor Je vais donc enlever le "unknown" comme apparament il n'y a pas de modèle. Pour l'année si un angliciste veut essayer de demander une "fourchette"... voici l' email: David.Schaible (at) gillig.com -- Last edit: 2006-08-30 22:09:00 (antp) |

I think this is a Gillig 318-D . |

SMC, good sir (or madam), I hate to correct you, but that bus is NOT a 318D-series Gillig. The 318D series Gillig did not debut until 1970 and the style of Gillig produced here ceased production in 1966 as Gillig stopped building the Transit Coach with the 72" headroom as depicted here, in that year. I own and produce GilligCoaches.NET (the website for whose link is directly above your post), and have been a Gillig historian for most of my life. That's clearly not a 318D. The only options are a Cummins-powered C-180 or C-190 model or a International-powered RD501D-13 model, or even a Ford-powered 534D-series. I think for the time being, this should be labled as a Gillig (more appropriately, Gillig Transit Coach), until I can consult the production records. -- Last edit: 2009-11-30 11:48:54 |
