This car belongs to Dennis. Dennis is Arnie's best friend and his car is only seen for two scenes. This one and when Dennis is driving Arnie home from school when Arnie sees Christine. This should get 3 stars.

And in the book they were living in Pennsylvania, not California.

And in the book, Christine was a Fury, but had rear doors and a gearshift, rofl.

Also in the book this car was a Plymouth Duster instead of the Charger that they used in this scene.

I've always liked this car about as much as Christine, to tell the truth. Nice color, and the Cragars set it off nicely. I wonder if it was packing a 318 or a 383?

It might be an R/T so maybe a 440?

I remember at least 3 scenes for the charger, the one I remember is when Dennis has a broken leg, and he's at the school etching Darnells Tonight in Christine's hood, and he gets into the charger with Arnie's girl driving.

Four stars is over-rated, three is more appropriate.

Bricklin: Thecar is not an R/T. The grille emblem is for the base model.

This seems like a bit flashy for a middle-class high school student. I remember in the book, Dennis is riding in Christine and thinking that he wished he was just back in his crummy, ordinary Duster.

In 1978, this just would have been considered a 10 year old "used car," with nice paint and wheels.

Mel: Love to see some pictures of it, I am really into movie cars I have one myself the mustang from Death Sentence and a couple of tribute ones (Bullitt, Deathproof, Vanishing Point) I always thought that the Charger that Dennis drove in Christine was sweet, the color and cragers really set it off. check out my site www.toddsclassiccars.com and email me some pics I would love to add your pictures and story to my friends link on my site. I am getting ready to start a 1967 Camaro project and going to make it look identical to Buddy Reparten's car in the movie. Todd

Two chargers were apparently used for the movie one stickshift and the other an auto.
One of them has the rear view mirror mounted upside down!

FACT: Only one car was used in the movie. 1968 Dodge Charger with a 318 V8, automatic transmission and power windows. It received some left side door damage during filming a scene that was not used in the movie. The damage was repaired and then it was returned to its owner. It was used in one other film a year later in 1984. It has never been seen since then.

I'm guessing more than likely a 440 Six Pack.

My absolute DREAM car.. Would prefer either a 383cu.in or a 427cu.in,but would not complain about a 318.. BEAUTIFUL body design and especially love the inlaid flat black grill :-)
