It might have been bought by a Russian trader - I read a lot of Ladas in western Europe, including the UK, were bought by Russians and taken home because they were thought to be better made than domestic versions. Being right hand drive would be a problem, but I suppose that you could convert it to left hand drive if you could get all the parts you needed from scrapped cars. Failing that, you could strip it for spare parts. (I once read about a man who bought a secondhand Citroen XM in Britain and shipped it to Gambia for a charity there to use. A Gambian garage converted it to left hand drive with parts from a scrapped XM.)
