NSU did sell a very small number of vehicles in the USA from the late 1950's until about 1972? They officially offered the Prinz, Spider and 1000/1200 models including the TT but not the TTS. The Ro80 was never sold in the USA.

A friend of mine who was in his early 20's at the time that Two Lane Blacktop was made bought a new NSU 1200 in Seattle in 1971. He says it was a lot of fun and drove similarly to a classic Mini, albeit slightly larger (so a more comfortable ride) and with more over-steer at the limits due to the rear engine. His first 'new' car was a black over red Mk 1 1967 Austin Cooper S which he bought upon graduation from high school in 1967.
