Belongs to the Burnhams, always driven by Carolyn (Annette Bening), appears in various scenes throughout the film. "Smile, you're at Mr Smiley's!" It's unusual to see one of these where the bumpers aren't painted to match the body-colour. Black plastic bumpers always look cheap. -- Last edit: 2010-02-06 02:31:28 |

Here they do not look very matte, rather dark-grey painted. Non-painted bumper have the big advantage of not being as fragile as the painted ones when using French acoustic parking system (cf /vehicle.php?id=166140 ) |

In the early years of these 1st gen MLs, you couldn't escape these ugly bumpers. All of them had them. But these gray bumpers are not unusual on SUVs. Unfortunately, they were very common. They are almost gone from todays SUVs. |

This was one of the first ML's ever made. They started production March 1998, hence the black bumpers. I also remember seeing that it only had an AM/FM cassette player in the movie; I owned a 1999 and it had a stock CD player. |

One of the first of them was used in 'Jurassic Park: The Lost World' -- Last edit: 2012-02-14 20:52:08 (G-MANN) |

That was shot in 1996 wasn't it? Says a lot about when MB completed it. -- Last edit: 2012-02-14 20:51:53 (G-MANN) |

This is a 1999 model due to the side repeater being moved closer to the door. On 1998 models, it was located further forward on the fender. See here to see location of side repeater on 1998 models: /vehicle_46569-Mercedes-Benz-ML-320-W163-1998.html No, it wasn't one of the first. It was filmed from December 1998 - February 1999. The ML had already been on sale for over a year at this point. Also, just because you only saw an AM/FM cassette player on the dash does not mean it didn't have a CD player. Remember at the time, CD changers were often located in the trunk, glovebox, or other places, meaning you might not see a visible CD player slot. -- Last edit: 2019-02-21 21:24:51 |
