yes, a shame. VERY rare in the US now.Even back in the 80s you never saw them.My grandfathers next door neighbor had one. I only remember it because even back then it was an obscure,oddball car.

In Germany it was very popular, often the third most sold car after the VW Golf and the Opel Kadett. But it disappeared very soon, caused by the rust problems.
And it was the car of my childhood, my father had a very early one from October 1973 (marinogelb, green interior -verys 70ies styling :D - with sunroof, a 85hp LS - as it was a really lightweight car, less than 900kg in the basic version, the 1.6 liter 85hp-version was really fast, compared with the competitors.
After that he had a 1976 L in kasanrot, in the lame 1.3liter 55hp-version.
