Nothing so neglected in Scotland today AFAIK, but might be a Victorian photo of something which has been transposed? |

Finally solved - it's Caerlaverock Castle, near Dumfries, with GGI dereliction Link to "www.tripadvisor.co.uk" . |

Caerlaverock was really my first idea, the shape fits. I still remember the outcry of the pleasant lady (as all employees of Historic Scotland) at its visitors center in July 2001: "What for heavens sake have you done?", when we gave her our 7-days-pass for the stamp - because it was already totally full |

Some of them are very pleasant, helpful and friendly. Some others make traffic wardens seem very pleasant, helpful and friendly in comparison. However they hide these in offices to deal with bureaucracy and planning applications, and put the nice ones as frontline staff at pretty castles. |
