The first thing to come to my mind is the Daimler from the Italian Job and Villain. |

Thanks - that was probably it. Unfortunately it does not help here, but I can stop worrying. |

If they're both NAN XXXD does that mean the two cars were registered in the same week or in the same area at the same time? |

From 1903 to 1965 AN was allocated to the County Borough of West Ham. From 1965 to 1974 it became allocated to Greater London, and in the 1974 local government reorganisation it was reallocated again to Reading in Berkshire. So they would have both been registered by the Greater London Council at approximately the same time. The last D indicates the year 1966. The first N is merely an index, so after NAN999D the next AN registration is probably OAN1D. (But nothing is certain as the film or tv companies often swap plates about.) The dealers who sell new cars get a block of allocations from the local authority, different dealers might use their lists at different rates, but all not too far apart. -- Last edit: 2023-09-13 16:57:19 |
