Brown car in middle is a 1980-82 Ford Fairmont Futura : http://www.fordfutura.zoomshare.com/my_images/fr.jpg The white car behind it is a 1985-86 Reanult Alliance : Link to "lecruchon2.free.fr"

Which one is the most interesting to list? I would say that it is the Renault Alliance, but that's maybe because I prefer the Alliance than the Fairmont, and that I like to see "rare" european cars in US movies :D

I thought a Renault Allicance was a convertible?

No, it was also used as name for the 2-door and 4-door version, which were like the Renault 9. Late Renault Encore (3 and 5-door, Renault 11) were renamed to "Alliance Hatchback".

The Ford Fairmont is the standard model, not the Futura. The Futura had a different roof treatment: http://www.fordmuscle.com/archives/2004/03/FinnishFairmont/

The Mercury Zephyr Z-7 had the same roofline as the Fairmont Futura.

I have never seen an Alliance hatchback, it must have been a very late model. The Encore (11) was relatively popular here. Back then, we also had the Renault Medaillon, the Fuego and the SportWagon. As a Buick fan, I liked that name!
This was the wagon version of the Renault 18. The sedan version of the Renault 18 was also imported but it was discontinued sooner.
BTW I knew someone who had a '86 Jeep Wagoneer (the small model), he had a remote door lock/unlock keyfob with it (it was the first time I saw such a thing). This was 20 years ago but I remember that the keyfob had a Renault logo on it.

If it is just a basic Fairmont I would rather list the Renault then

The Encore was renamed to Alliance Hatchback for the last model-year, 1987.

It's a Fairmont Futura. The wagons gained the Futura name and front clip in 1981 and the sedans gained the name and front clip in 1982.
