Too big to be Falcon right? So maybe a Galaxie? I think these were the only two Ford models raced in the British touring cars at this time. |

Probably one of the Galaxie 500 raced by Jack Sears and Willment in 63 and 64 BTCC against the Lotus Cortinas. If the Sears car it could be registered BML 9A, although 2-3 others were also used by Graham Hill, Dan gurney, Jack Brabham and others. Sir Gawaine Baillie drove one as well. In 1964 he brought it to Australia where it was raced here by Baillie and Lex Davison (Grandfather of current V8 Supercar drivers Alex and Will Davison) in the Sandown 6 hour International. Davison crashed the car at Sandown Raceway (while leading the race by a substantial margin), when the car ran out of brakes and he crashed through a railing into the lake in the middle of the circuit. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gawaine_Baillie http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1964_Sandown_6_Hour_International http://www.autopics.com.au/cache/item-2562public.html?cache=no http://www.autopics.com.au/cache/item-2563public.html?cache=no http://www.autopics.com.au/cache/item-2564public.html?cache=no http://www.autopics.com.au/cache/item-7795public.html?cache=no -- Last edit: 2011-12-30 02:14:16 |
