At least a 1947 model. And more likely a chassis + cab class, not a "Car, Van, MPV".
FC-253 was the 1947-50 inner code for the 1-ton FC-250 with a 137" / 3.48 m wheelbase. But for the chassis+cab, it was also available as a FC-251 (116" / 2.95 m) as well as a FC-252 (125.25" / 3.18 m) models. The 116" wb option seems too short, but is this one a FC-252 or a FC-253 truck?

If sure of the 137" wb, then
1947 GMC New Design FC-250 Armoured [FC-253]

else, if at least sure of the 250-Series:
1947 GMC New Design FC-250 Armoured

(both with chassis + cab as class)

We can also use the more generic FC-250 or FC-Series as chassis code?

FC-250 was for 1947-50 1-ton trucks (pickups, panels, chassis...). So we have to be sure of a 1-ton payload to use it.
• GMC internal chassis code for New Design light-duty were (for 1947-50 models) FC-XXz, where XX was 10, 15 or 25 (for ½-, ¾- and 1-ton trucks), z being the number of the wheelbase (1 for 116" / 2.95 m, 2 for 125.25" / 3.18 m and 3 for 137" / 3.48 m).
• FC-Series... I'm not sure it was ever named that way. As far as I know, this would be for 1947-50 light trucks only (whatever the payload or the wheelbase is), and we'll have then nothing for the 1951-53 trucks (101-22 to 253-22: "22-Series"?) nor 1954-55 models (101-24 to 253-24)...

Aside New Design, I don't know any name to gather these trucks...

A few years later...
The 1949+ grille implies a possible 1951-53 model. As such, the model code would be 253-22, not FC-253: it's certainly better to leave that code unset.
