August 1957, the "Austin" was dropped and the cars became known as just "Princess". "Mid" 1960, sorry, I can do no better, the name "Vanden Plas" was introduced. The name of the car above therefore depends upon its date of despatch, although, this appears to have a vinyl roof and maybe extra length, and could be a special. The name is "Austin Princess or Princess or Vanden Plas Princess" 4 litre limousine, according to my book. The Vanden Plas Princess 4 litre R is a completely different car based upon the big Farina shell, much modified, and with a Rolls-Royce FB60 4- litre engine. |
