Definately not a 220. Round lights indicate 190-200. |

Looks to be the "Binz Europ 1100" with a somewhat unusual high window in the rear door. |

With the indicators on the front wings and by what seems to be the shape of the optional fog lights, I would say a circa 1964 190 or 190 D. |

Mercedes ambulance in the UK in the 60s? Looks a bit like an Edgar Wallace movie ![]() |

Certainly unusual but may not be total fantasy. Matchbox modelled one in 1967 in their 1-75 series http://www.flickr.com/photos/28773898@N04/4654196975/ and in 1-43ish King Size Link to "toysfromthepast.blogspot.com" . |

wondering if this one really is a BINZ, because BINZ allways used the sedan rear side door, thus leads to small triangle in the right top corner, as the sedan roof top is lowering at that certain point Miesen used to cut of door frame to make it higher, IMA did as well and it was Miesen that brought higher side windows /vehicle.php?id=40103&l=de have a close look at the rear doors of BINZ Europe 1000 -- Last edit: 2012-05-10 23:15:43 |

If people are looking at UK Binz-ish Mercs, can I throw this one into the mix as well - /vehicle_496166-Mercedes-Benz.html ? Perhaps worth stating that all of these in UK would only have been used by private clinics or hospitals, never AFAIK by public sector National Health Service institutions. So rich vehicles for rich patients. |

Seems like thumb is the BINZ mentioned above (doors of equal height). Main image would rather be a Miesen (single body colour, btw, and a higher door)? |

It *is* the Binz Europ 1100 - on all the pictures, even with a raised rear door. It also carries the coachbuilder's badge on the front fender. You may want to compare with the Binz factory photo below: ![]() A better picture and some additional info here. |
