Third generation (1992-1994), I'm saying 1993, Ford Tempo GL sedan.

Is this a good movie? Does the tempo die? Is there any action or chases involved with the Tempo? Hate to sound annoying, but if there are chases and the Tempo doesn't die, I think I'll rent the movie (just for the Tempo).Oh, and is the Tempo used by a character a lot or is it important in the movie?

Yes, there was. Although there were not really a complete redesign, there was a major update. All-new interior, new front end arangement, new engine (135HP 3.0L Vulcan V6), new options (power seats, cup holder, leather interior), model changes (GLS dropped), among various other differences. It is technically not a full new generation, but all the people I talk to (such as at TempoTopaz.com) refer to the 1992-1994 Tempos as the third generation. I do too. Its much easier.

News to me and it is, I believe, the wrong code, who ever added it. The 1st/2nd generation Tempo/Topaz was based off (loosely as this platform was a stretched version) the [CE14] platform shared with the 1st Escort at the time.

The 2nd generation Escort (1991 circa) was based off Mazda's B platform (forget what ford called the platform).

P3 code would also cause Ford confusion as it was used for 60s Taunuses. If it's genuine, we're probably stuck with it, but would be better to find a way of keeping them apart.

this is a recurring problem for vehicles that share even one letter with another vehicle/code, where it mixes the unrelated vehicles together

Well that's the question. There are a few of them with this code, but no explanation why and no one has claimed ownership of doing it.

I did find this:
dhill_cb7 wrote Carfax.com:
1992 FORD TEMPO GL

I researched Tempo VINs from 1992-1994.

[P36] Sedan GL.
[P37] Sedan LX.
[P3? Sedan GLS (only VIN I could not locate).

[P31] Coupe GL.
[P33] Coupe GLS.
There wasn't a coupe LX (atleast 1992-1994).

The polycast cast wheels were standard on the LX and optional GL. Only the GL came with wheelcovers standard. GLS was discontinued after 1992 MY making them rare for this final face lift (1 year).

Are you sure you'e not the one who labeled this?

CE14 is the MKV/MKVI/MKVIIIXBetc Euro Escort, nothing to do with US models or older Euro Escorts, people keep trying to use it here due to an error on Wiki that was flagged to us 5 years ago:

The P3x code is probably right if it's in the VINs as indicated by nightcub, it's just whether we want to go to the trouble of using it.

The problem is that with US Fords, the code used in the VIN to ID the model is not the same as the Chassis/Body Code. It's been that way since before the standardized VIN system started in 1981.

I forgot I did that research :wow: I don’t recall adding the codes but if I did I’m sorry.

Prop plate when movie was made. A very authentic looking one. In real life, years later, it was issued to a '15 Honda Fit.

but just curious ( again ) why only the 1992-1994 ones ? 1988-1991 were pretty much the same except for grille, tail lights and more black parts on the bumpers/body..
