This is a Canadian Meteor Montcalm 2-door hardtop of 1975.The US Mercury Monterey was taken off the American market in 1974 but continued in Canada in 1975 in the Meteor line. There it received a new grille with a large horizontal upper chromed part and six divided cells ressembling that of the Chrysler New Yorker 1975 ,visible on the picture here. Grilles of US Mercury Montereys of 1973/4 were different.Rear styling was also revised and adopted a Mercury Marquis type rear styling with the panel below the trunk deck lid indeed bearing the name Mercury. A Meteor script was retained on the lower right deck lid corner but is not visible here.So Meteor Montcalm 2 door hardtop 1975 , to file under the Meteor name ( there is already a '54 there)

Movie was made in Alaska and Canada, by the way.

As I indicated the name " Mercury" indeed apeared on the panel below the trunk deck lid of the Meteor Montcalm of 1975 and this is normal( for ref see :Monarch Meteor by R.Perry Zavitz Quad Printing Bothwell Inc Bothwell Ont Canada ISBN 0-9697958-0-7 )This was probably aimed at using the then existing Mercury Marquis parts .But the car is as spotted by Firebird without doubt a Canadian Meteor Montcalm 1975.

Unlike some Meteors that were sold here before, the 1975 model was a Mercury. I think it should be listed as a Mercury Meteor.
Can someone tell me the difference between the 1975 Mercury Meteor Rideau and the 1975 Mercury Meteor Montcalm? I can't tell it. I know it's a trim level and I think the Montcalm was a bit more luxurious than the Rideau but I can't differenciate them. 1975-76 Meteors were quite common when I was a child and I remember being able to differenciate the Meteor from the Marquis/Grand Marquis by looking at the headlamps. Now, they are a rare sight!

Should we list this made for Canada?
