What are the differences between 1955 and 1960 model years ? /vehicle_7422-Rambler-American-1960.html |

The easiest way to spot is by the rear wheels . On the 1955's ,the rear wheels were fully covered by the rear fenders , on the 1960's the rear wheels were open .1955's had a stock Continental type external spare wheel ,this was not the case for the 1960 Americans. The 1955 four doors had a wraparound rear window , 1960's four doors a classic shape rear window.1960's had a narrow chrome slat extending from front fender to back of front door. Two remarks however : 1. the 1954 and 1955 models are quite similar, but on the 1954's the front wheels were also fully covered by the front fenders,so this is a'55 ( the covered front wheels were abandonned in ' 55 to improve turning radius) 2. One cannot exclude on these 1955 cars that it is a Hudson badged one , in other words a Hudson Rambler , but for this one would need a close view on the grille badge.I think it is difficult to file the car under the two makes so I keep it to Nash which was more common anyway. |

One more precision : the designation "American" was introduced on the small 1959 Ramblers , so earlier Nashes or Hudson Ramblers are not " Americans" |

Amazing. Pilou's own description shows this to be a 1960 American, not a '55, yet it's been listed as a '55 for almost 8 years. Someone just added a Continental kit to this car. Changing. -- Last edit: 2014-04-27 04:14:52 |
