A bit more than that, if you go through the laundry list of optional extras and you find that you can’t stop yourself from selecting everything you see. With that price you get unprecedented towing performance unlike any other vehicle. A good portion of the Super Duty’s options are towing and off road minded, for example the Gooseneck trailer tow prep package, fifth wheel/gooseneck trailer hitch kit option, dual heavy duty alternator option, power take off (PTO) provision option, and other work related options. Of course there are also luxury options extras too. In fact, most owners of these dual rear wheeled pickups will have some type of gooseneck trailer. |

Top Gear is famous for leaving out details, so some clarification is in order. Tanner Foust (who is the one driving the F-450 Super Duty) says at one point, he has disabled the Super Duty’s traction control system (TCS). It should be noted that the TCS on Super Duty pickups with dual rear wheels (DRW) is engine management based only. Meaning it restricts engine torque output if wheel-slip is detected. It does not extend to include the anti-lock braking system (ABS) to limit and/or "brake lock" slipping wheels, which controls wheel-slip and reroutes torque to the wheel with more grip. So when Tanner says he disabled TCS, he really only shut off engine management. |
