Ah yes, this here truck is otherwise known as the "Crackerbox" for some reason. It was replaced by the Astro in 1968. I like the Astro better than this truck.

By the way, does anyone know if Chevy had an equivalent to this truck?

I really don't think they did, and I've been curious about that in the past as well.

Its also known as a 48" Aluminum Tilt, Crackerbox was adopted as a nickname because of the cabs squared angles. I don't think Chevrolet built an equivalent. link

Guy's I don't wanna start a Fight But I think this truck is a 1956 GMC F-Model Cracker Box

Link to "www.hankstruckpictures.com"

in 1956 they had a different grill just like this one every thing on the '56 Cracker box in my link & this truck in movin' on are identical there for this truck is a 1956 GMC F-Model Cracker Box, 1953 is when they first came out but then they were a little different in a new in 1956 then they switched to a fancier style in 1957-1964 then from 1965-1967 they made the newest style of the Cracker box

Unlike what is said by 56PeteFan without any source, this truck model is said to be a 1959-68 model everywhere?

It would be certainly better to identify it as a F-Series, to avoid it to be confused with the other (non tilt-cab) GMC COE F-Models.
