1988-1993 Chrysler Fifth Avenue/New Yorker, not sure which. |

I believe a vinyl landau roof was standard on the 5th Ave. This car doesn't have that so it's a New Yorker. |

Landau roof was standard on both the 5th Avenue and the New Yorker; since this car lacks it it's more specifically a New Yorker Salon. Earlier Salons looked like this, while later models had the same front clip (the grille excluded) as the Dodge Dynasty. I think 1990 was when they switched over to looking like Dynasties, although I can't confirm. |

New Yorker Salons had horizontal taillights like the Dynasty. Base New Yorkers did not have Landau roofs. Link to "oldcarbrochures.org" |

we did not had New Yorker Salon. we had a base New Yorker , like this one and a Landau trim, that comes with the vinyl roof |

All Salons had horizontal taillights? This one /vehicle_35202-Chrysler-New-Yorker-1989.html and this one /vehicle_183980-Chrysler-New-Yorker-1988.html both have vertical taillights and are listed as Salons... |

http://www.curbsideclassic.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/IMG_0052.jpg there is the Salon.... man, Dynasty and friends are driving me crazy, crazy, crazy.....so happy that Chrysler cleaned up that mess in 1993..... |

You find them confusing? Try the GM H-body, GM J-body, Chrysler M-body, or any Geo/Asüna... |
◊ 2015-05-18 05:48 |
actually, those GM are more easier to sort out as they have only one vehicle per division ( Chevy Cavalier, Pontiac Sunbird, Cadillac Cimarron, Oldsmobile firenza and Buick Skyhawk ) they don't change the name as soon as they add a little something, ( no matter if RS or Z24, it stays a Cavalier....). but i admit that Geo/Asuna/Passport is a nice little messed up trio |

not talking about M body or i'll be bald by the end of the night... |

just looked in my books and looks like we had a Salon for 1992-1993 and it looks like this Link to "www.kijiji.ca" . lookslike it takes the place of the Landau or something... even my books seems confused ( or i'm getting confused ) |

Upon further research, it looks like the Dynasty-style Salon lasted one year, 1990 (for US models). In 1991, the Salon retained the New Yorker styling. So the Chrysler C-bodies were: 1988-89 New Yorker 1988-90 New Yorker Landau 1990-93 New Yorker Salon 1990-93 New Yorker Fifth Avenue 1990-93 Imperial The one in the main picture looks like it has "New Yorker" script on the c-pillar anyway. |

wow...is it normal that i want to thank you and cry at the same time.... ? 1991-1993 Salon would take place of the regular New Yorker while Fifth Avenue does the same for Landau, right ? |

You forgot the Dynasty. |
◊ 2015-05-18 17:26 |
Also, does anyone else find it odd that there was never a Plymouth version of the Dynasty/New Yorker? |
◊ 2015-05-18 17:32 |
Well the Plymouth brand wasn't really ment for luxury cars anymore at that time, they only sold sporty and affordable cars (Sundance/Acclaim/Laser) since the mid-80's untill their demise. |
