I think not. Or this must be a very lowered BMW 5.

No, unless it is a modified BMW for very narrow roads! :D

An image height of about 530 pixel looks better, but judging from wide angle lens pictures is sometimes misleading due to distortion of the image.

Perhaps your screen is misadjusted.
Take this image and measure if the circle is actually a circle or an oval:

Use a real ruler for measuring, not a software tool.

On my screen (21" CRT @ 1600x1200, 100 Hz), the BMW looks perfectly okay.

As I said, the different is very small.

Original:

4/3:
(recompressed = too heavy and not very good quality, but it is just for the shape of the picture)

It would also be better without black border :D

To do the test take a car seen from side (strict side, i.e. no front or rear part visible), and check the wheels. Another test is to find a picture in a non-4/3 movie (16/9 or cinemascope).
Maybe that the picture that I resized to 4/3 is wrong due to the black borders (I do not know if it is 4/3 with or without the borders - I guess it should be without), but for me it seems to have a better shape than the original one.

I have the same problem Yvon52!
I'm still looking for the right way to make screenshots in the right proportion... ;)

U was using an old program called Imager2. But now I have Irfanview. I believe its freeware...

Yes, it is freeware, and quite useful.

Type 'C' to get to the screenshot menue, and 'B' for the batch-conversion menue. This programme saves me a lot of time.
