jplemoine ◊ 2006-07-05 22:06	Le problème n'est pas de savoir si le Hummer ou TOUS les autres SUV sont des bonnes ou mauvaises voitures, mais de savoir quel est le pourcentage des gens qui utilisent les capacités de ces véhicules à... disons 30%, pour être gentil. Alors que, le plus souvent, on les voit en ville, la benne vide, ou sur autoroute, à peu près aussi à l'aise sur ces terrains qu'un fer à repasser sur une omelette norvégienne. Je veux bien croire qu'un SUV trouve toute sin utilité en Alaska, mais PAS en ville, pas à vide, pas sur autoroute, pas seul au volant! Pas avec une surconsommation d'énergie fossile de l'ordre de 80%, un volume gaspillé énorme, et de plus, souvent (pas toujours, je ne généralise pas...) un comportement pour le moins incivique: stationnement sur trottoirs, pare-buffles énormes ET interdits pour cause de dangerosité en cas de choc auto-piéton... Bon: c'était mon quart d'heure vieux râleur, mais je repense à l'abruti qui m'a coupé la route (et un Stop) alors que j'arrivais en moto, et qui, à mon coup de klaxon, a trouvé comme seul argument de réponse à me tendre son majeur pointé vers le ciel... Est-ce que pour un bon nombre de ces possesseurs de 4x4 citadins, ce n'est pas uniquement un moyen de se prouver qu'ils ont la plus grosse... ? -- Last edit: 2006-07-05 22:07:17

Obviously it isn't true, but I felt weird being in there. I had the same feeling when one of the school officials gave me a ride back to school in a Hummer H2. I definitly feel safe in our Windstar and my Sable.

I can think of quite a few, like qwerty's dear Sable and it's ugly brother, the Taurus. Now, qwerty, you may feel like people are staring at you. It is true, yes they are. They are either 1)Staring at the beautiful HUMMER (the Durango is ugly though) or 2)staring at you, in which case I'd worry.:D And people probably are not staring. And if they are, stare back.

I've had people comment on how nice and comfortable my Tempo is, but then my family teases me on how ugly it is to them. I have complemented my aunt who drives an Explorer not only not only on it's good looks, but it rides better then my Tempo. And you'd be suprised at how the Lincoln Navigator handles like a small sedan, very nice ride. Of course, my Grandpa's Blazer sucks, both looks and drive.

It appears in the New Car Guide section of Top Gear Magazine (related to the TV program). Here's what they say about it: The US invasion of Blighty [Britain] contiunes with this RHD Hummer. Huge, politically incorrect in the extreme, and you know who'll buy them. Oi, [Wayne] Rooney! We're looking at you! Don't be fooled by The redneck side of the American image.
