Did you ever sit inside a civilian G class (preferably an AMG or generally a well-equipped version)? I did. It certainly doesn't have that 'troop carrier'-feeling inside. It is boxy, it is large, it is heavy and spacious. But very well equipped and luxurious. A good luxury SUV. If you want the troop carrier-feeling, try the Land Rover Defender instead. I sat inside this vehicle too. It's pretty solid, hard plastic, straightforward. But no luxury features.
