How can you tell its not an Ambassador, upon further investigation Ive found that both the Matador and the Ambassador use the same exact platform, the A,B,C pillars are the same,the roofline, the doors and handles are the same. It seems to me that the only difference is the grill treatment.(which we cant see in the pic) LAPD used Ambassadors in 1970's, apparently they had a larger engine package then the Matador did. Comments????? |

LAPD used the Matador, not the Ambassador. Since this not an accurate LAPD car (lights and markings position are wrong) it could very well be either an Ambassador or Matador from the studio's backlot. http://www.arcticboy.com/media/cops/MatCop72Album.jpg |

The Matador has a shorter (118'') wheelbase compared to the Ambassador's 122''. |

Trim level indicates that it is a Matador. The Ambassador would have different side moulding |
