This is obviously an early post war Riley RM series. But based on the picture it will be difficult to make out if it is a RMA 1 1/2 litre or a RMB 2 1/2 litre car ( Note :the designation RME was only used on the later 1 1/2 litre cars built from october 1952 to mid 1955 ). The external differences between the two versions were tiny:the 2 1/2 litre had a six inches longer wheelbase and that could be best spotted on a lateral view of the car. This made it sleeker than a 1 1/2 litre.Other difference :the Riley radiator badge was light blue enamel on the larger car and dark blue on the 1 1/2 litre. So the difference lies in the engine , not visible here.If the picture is not too distorted , my first impression was A 2 1/2 litre RMB from ca 1949 |

It's actually 2 1/2 litre RMB. Two molding on the step expand toward the fender and reached to the high position. 1 1/2's molding is more shorter. And rear sprit bumper shows it's pre Sep.1951. |

think you may find this to be a 1 1/2L RMA , about 1947, if you see the shot of her with the Austin Atlantic you will notice under the chrome strip on the edge of the bonnet is the chrome swivel covers that expose the holes to get to the bonnet release catches which the later models & the 2 1/2L did not have, what do you think? |
