BTW: The correct chassis-code for this S-Class is W 116. Besides, there are 2 goofs in the background(Corsa & Toyota) as the movie is set 1977. Actually rather unnecessary, because in 1997 there were still enough 1970s cars around in Germany.

Perhaps the owners refused to move them. Or perhaps the film crew just didn't bother to ask.

Or they didn't have the budget to make it looks like 1977 era setting besides these vehicles :/

No idea. It was actually the only thing that bothered me about this quite remarkable movie( which is actually a "hybrid" as it's both a documentary and "conventional" movie) while I watched it back in '97 when it was broadcasted for the first time. As far as the content/plot is concerned, it was extremely well researched (the director is also a journalist), and it would be rather wrong to call it low-budget. The work of both the cast and the setbuilders was excellent as far as I recall, but in this particular scene I guess they just ran out of time as they possibly weren't allowed to cordon off this quite busy Cologne street until the cars were removed.

The big SUV (Landcruiser?) is an anachronism, too.

I actually meant the Land Cruiser. I didn't realize there was a Hiace, too.

I cannot make out the writing on the trunk, but it could also be a 450 SE.

I think the letters say SEL. The numbers I'm guessing say 450 but it's still a guess because I can't completely make them out.

@G-Mann: You're correct while I was wrong. It's a 450 SEL indeed- as it was in reality: http://www.sueddeutsche.de/auto/filmautos-raf-jagd-im-youngtimer-1.687789-2 and http://www.sueddeutsche.de/auto/filmautos-raf-jagd-im-youngtimer-1.687789-3 Back in '97, W116 450 SELs were both easy and cheap to get, so I guess the film-crew took a "genuine" one instead of taking a cheaper model and putting a 450 SEL-badge on it.

1977+ (wider) interior mirror.
