Definitely. AFAIK, more 02-Series than E21s have survived.

15 years ago it was just a worthless clunker, same as a 1992 3-series today.

I got my license in 1996 and could have bought one pretty cheap, but couldnt find one that wasnt rusted and ran properly. The few nice ones were restored and customized and therefore too expensive. One guy in my neighborhood had one that was full of rust holes.Another was at a gas station for a few years, inoperable.

Last week, when I was in downtown Asheville NC, I saw a maroon 1981-83 320i in a parking lot that was in nice condition along with a silver Toyota Van and a white 1981-84 VW Rabbit parked there too. And earlier, I saw a tan 1975 Chevy Impala sedan on the highway heading to Asheville. It was quite a treat seeing some old cars still running on the roads there, because in America, seeing cars still existing from the 70s-80s is becoming a rarity. :D

... but much cheaper and easier to (self) maintain. the burgundy one in my profile pics had almost 400,000 miles when that picture was taken ;)

I see '70s and '80s cars every time I go out...and not just because my two vehicles are from the '70s and '80s. :)

It seems to me like '70s and '80s cars are getting rare everywhere EXCEPT in the U.S.
