They vary from 1966 to 1969. After the first few episodes the number plate changes to DHV 938D and stays like this for the rest of the show. The van has just sold at auction for £44,000 a LOT more than an ordinary Regal. |

I've now watched this entire series, after buying the whole collection on DVD. Brilliant stuff. As for the Regal, despite using so many they're pretty good about continuity. The primer spots seem to change around a bit, and the one used in roughly the first two series was red inside the doors. |

They used a blue one of these in the Mr. Bean tv show, as well. They're cool looking. |

An original Only Fools Regal was on display at the Cars of the Stars Museum in Keswick, Cumbria, until its sad closure in July 2011. Upon closure, most of the cars went to the Dezer Collection in Florida. The only vehicle the museum's owner, Peter Nelson, retained was Del Boy's Reliant. |

The MOT for APL 911H expired 01 August 2013!!!!! |

A replica was built of APL911H for display but later sold and the new owners thinking that was the reg applied for the logbook and was granted it, DVLA was informed that APL911H or the remains of it are in storage and that it isn't the real van so that logbook was cancelled and the the true ID of the replica van was found and used. After APL911H was replaced the fake registration of DHV938D was used on all vans, four vans remain, one in very poor condition, all four are in private ownership. the remains of APL911H are also in private ownership. First picture shows CFD102J see how the sticker is coming off where it was removed from the other van, notice also the S for supervan has been added to the badge as the badge was broken, CFD109Jalso had later rear lights fitted to match the other vans, all for continuity purposes, picture two is NJB33L, both vans were rented for filming, interesting from two different companies for this series at the same time. -- Last edit: 2016-12-07 14:54:23 |

Thanks for the detailed info on the ones used. With it in mind I don't think it should be listed as 1966 because that's just from the fake plate used on all the vans after a certain point. 1969 is a better year to put (year of the oldest van and it's probably that one in the main image being as APL911H was the original van and the picture is from the intro). |

DHV 938D was a genuine plate, London Sept-Dec 1966 but no trace now, and makes no sense for a Regal Supervan III, launched Aug 68. |

I believe one van was written off when Rodney drove over a hump back bridge at high speed in the 1988 Christmas Special. For a stunt like that I assume it was specially prepared replica. |

Someone once said when it hit the floor it fell to bits, but I read somewhere else that the van had hardly any damage to it and is was repaired when the stunt was over, there is also evidence of this when Practical Classics magazine refurbished the late John Sullivan's van (he was given the last van to be used for filming) that it had steel runners welded to the chassis and they believed it to be the van used in that stunt. ![]() Jim Sullivan with the original and last van used it was also used for the publicity shots for the stage show ![]() And after a body off refurb by Practical Classic Mag ![]() ![]() |
