one of about 800 pre WW2 Rolls Royces sold by RR India to Maharajas...upon indipendence in 1947, most of these big cars were no longer seen as status symbols and were sold secondhand to anyone who wanted them..in 1955 you could buy one for 2,000 rupees..about £25 !!!..in 1972 India placed a ban on the export of vintage cars so that today (2009) out of all the Rolls royces sold in India there are 20 owned by one man in a museum of 250 old cars...about 250 Rolls royces were exported out of India before the export ban (one being driven 2,000 road miles to Iran where it was transported to the UK by boat)...about 300 were scrapped in India....a few are rotting under tarpaulins in various places and the remainder are yet to be discovered. |

The date is 1919 at this point in the film (Amritsar massacre) so a bit anachronistic. |
