The '54 and '55 were virtually indistinguishable. The only difference was the hood hood ornament which had a slightly higher finlet on the top, which this one doesn't have. Definitely a Manhattan. As the 1954 model year began, cars that had the new, wrapped rear window were Manhattans. Those with the smaller rear windows but the new grille/tail lamps were leftover '53 Manhattans re-serialed as '54's and re-named the "Special". Both series therefore had the wide chromed band on the side. Later on, a new "Special" model was added with all of the new 1954 visual features, but with the narrower side spear.
