No Brazilian car, it's just a pimped, orign German made 1600 TL. A 1970+ Longnose. |

P.S. The TL was really unpopular, nickname "Traurige Lösung" ("sad solution"). Notorious cross wind sensivity, insidious suspension with sudden oversteering effects, obstructed engine-space, uncomfortable access for the back passengers -no 4-door-version od any Typ 3 here- plus the antiquated technic, which was even in 1961, when this model-line was presented, seen as outdated. This model-line, at least the whole aircooled-back-engine-monoculture of Volkswagen back then, has nearly caused the total breakdown of the Volkswagen AG in the early 70ies. If the new generation would have come just a bit later, Volkswgen wouldn't exist any more. And if they really would have pushed the wrong way-EA 266 in production ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rudolf_Leiding ), the collapse would have been expectable. Annother fact is, that this new generation were adapted Audi-projects (Polo = Audi 50, Passat = Audi 80 Hatchback). |
