How can you be that sure it's a Leyland Tiger, as they weren't, to my knowledge, very common in Sweden. Isn't it more likely it's a Scania Vabis or perhaps a Tidaholm? -- Last edit: 2011-02-14 23:20:16 |

I just checked it out, it should be one of the few delivered to Stockholms Spårvägar in 1930 with ASJ body [A16069-A16088]. In 1928 they received a few Leylands with british bodies, one still alive at Spårvägsmuséet Stockholm [A16068]. I'm interested in how to become a bit wiser. How can you see it's a Leyland Tiger and not a Scania-Vabis? If you look very carefully at the bulkhead above the front mudguard and immediately to the right of the engine you will see, admittedly very blurred, the outline of the Autovac, a device not fitted to the Scanias shown in the links, but very prominent on 1920s/early 30s Leylands. http://www.flickr.com/photos/emdjt42/3457076806/ The lower build of the bus in the film picture suggests a Tiger TS 1 of the early 30s rather than my original thought of a Lion, athough the Lion with the four cylinder engine was still available concurrently with the Tiger if the owner was in a flat area and wanted to economise. I have visited Hagglunds in Ornskjoldsvik, in early January a few years ago.
