1st 2107 model imported to Poland had to be exactly 21072/1300 S, made since 1984. Early guide-books reffer only to this version and also among vintage cars 21072 seem to be in majority. 2107 with bigger engine had to be avaialble since 2nd half/late 80s. For some time in the 80s import of new cars with petrol engines over 1300 was banned in Poland (so more ccm was to get only in FSOs and western diesels). There is also the case of the naming/badging. Lada 21072 is often named "1300 S", but "1300 S" was for sure name of the early 2105 (also in Poland). However if we look closer on the badges, we might notice that on the back of many Polish 2105s is badge "Lada 1300 S" and on 21072 "Lada 2107" + "1300"/"1300S" badges on both rear wings, that's IMO important difference. (It cannot be excluded that in later yaers also 2105 was at the back baged simply "Lada 2105".) |
