If really 1958, then has unoriginal taillights from 1962 201/202. Edit: New details about 1957+ Warszawas. First, already mentioned on the other page, since 1953/54 engine was produced in Poland and became renamed to S-20. M-20, which I originally set to all "low valve" cars, as "code" was not a big mistake (it was the same unit), but in case of later models, it is better to use exact name, so [S-20]. I've found also interesting information. This, that 1957 was the last year, when the car had in its model name the "M-20" we already knew, but it seems that it was not directly replaced by the 200. In 1958 it was just Warszawa (acc. to brochures perhaps). It became 200 in ca 1959 (but also not at the beginning of year - brochure for 1959 still says just Warszawa, model 59): bottom of page: http://www.lowrider.pl/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=1675&start=15 The version, that 200 was name given later by the hobbysts (same like 100 in case of Syrena) we can exclude however, as there was 200 badge for sure - I saw it once on pick-up. The guy (Robi) from the link, is quite well informed and gives interesting facts. He also claims, that rear taillamps has been modified already in 1960 - from model 201! Hmm, it means that A. Zieliński could made a tiny mistake - he wrote, that new, bigger taillamps were introduced in nearly the same time with the model 202 in 1962. So with changes of year in this case I would prefer to wait. Zieliński's books are one of the best, but brochure etc. from 1960 or better 1961 would solve the problem. Debatable is also the rocket at the hood. Some sources claim it was not used already since 201, but here we can see 201 (lettering at the fenders) with it: /vehicle_87413-FSO-Warszawa-201-S-20-1960.html (of course also transitional model is possible). For sure also older cars not always had rocket - 1959 film - /vehicle_255951-FSO-Warszawa-M-20-S-20-1957.html Less debatable facts from linked discussion and other sources: - Side slats - there is indeed difference in their shape, between pre-1960 cars and later ones. The earlier ones seems to be thicker, but it is usually hard to say from the pic - matter of angle. - Orange indicators were used since 1960, but again transitional cars are possible. - Since 1960 rear bumper had place for retroreflectors (and sometimes even retroreflectors ), so another not original detail in car at the pic. -- Last edit: 2011-04-26 20:16:40 |
